(CAM) (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) therapies have become increasingly popular in pediatric populations. phytotherapy are the most common (CAM) used in children. Yet, little is known about children’s preferences for (CAM). But It is expected to become more widely integrated into the modern medical system, including the medical curriculum. The aim of this study is to introduce the prevalence and characteristics of (CAM) use in Pediatrics disease. Further research is warranted to examine the safety and effectiveness of this popular non-allopathic approach to children’s health.

Objective(s): To study the knowledge, attitude, and practice of Complementary Medicine. Methods: This was a descriptive study of a random sample of 4123 adults aged 15 years and over in Tehran, Iran. Data were collected in face -to- face interviews and participants were asked to indicate whether they knew about Complementary and Alternative Medicine and whether they were used or using (CAM). Results: The survey showed that 83.2% of the respondents were familiar with some form of Complementary Medicine. Herbal medication was the most popular (CAM) modality; therefore, excluding herbal medication, 58.6% of studied population knew some form of Complementary Medicine. The best known forms of (CAM) in the Tehran population were: herbal medication (75.6%), acupuncture (43.6%), hypnosis (39.2%), energy therapy (28.1%), yoga (22.1%), meditation (5.3%) and homeopathy (4.1%). 42.2% of studied population had used some form of Complementary Medicine. Herbal medication was again the most popular, but apart from herbal medication, 9.6% of the study population had used some form of Complementary Medicine. The most prevalent (CAM) modalities were: herbal medication (38.4%), energy therapy (3.4%), yoga (3%), acupuncture (2.7%), meditation (5.3%), hypnosis (1.2%), and homeopathy (0.4%). Conclusion: Public knowledge and demand for Complementary Medicine seems to be high. With growing demand, (CAM) deserves greater attention from health planners, policy makers, and a more scientific approach from the academic community. In the absence of hard evidence, we should not be influenced by those who either blindly promote or stubbornly reject Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Appropriate legislation by the Ministry of Health might help to ensure certain minimum standards such as proper regulation, standardized record-keeping and effective communication. Patients also need to be protected against unqualified, substandard practice, inappropriate treatments or unethical research activities (this would also facilitate ongoing medical assessment of (CAM)). The future of (CAM) should (and hopefully will) be determined by unbiased scientific evaluation. 

Nowadays, Complementary and Alternative Medicine is considered as an important part of healthcare management. General population highly accepted it which signifies ethical issues as a challenge to all healthcare specialists.Concerning the risk-benefit issues such as the severity and acuteness of illness; the curability of the disease by conventional treatment modalities; the degree of invasiveness, the linken toxicities, and the side effects of the conventional treatment; the accessibility and quality of evidence of usefulness and safety of the desired (CAM) (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) treatment; the level of information about the risks and benefits of the (CAM) treatment combined with the patient’s knowledge and voluntary acceptance of those risks; and the patient s persistence of intention to use (CAM) therapies; providers can delineate a plan that is clinically sound, ethically suitable, and aimed at the particular experience of individual patients. Physicians are proposed to remain committed in problem-solving with their patients and to try to reveal the patient s core values and opinions while guiding about (CAM) modalities.In this article some of more obvious or practical ethical aspects of Complementary and Alternative Medicine have been discussed.

Objective(s): To determine the prevalence, scope, and diversity of medical education in Complementary / Alternative Medicine ((CAM)) and to offer clear goals and concrete suggestions for incorporating (CAM) therapies as an integral part of medical curriculum.Methods: The information for this review was compiled by searching the Pub Med and MEDLINE databases looking for articles published until 1 September 2006. Only articles published in English were considered.The search terms included keywords "Complementary and Alternative Medicine" combined with "medical education", and "medical curriculum". Full texts of articles were obtained and their references were checked for additional data when appropriate.Results: Public interests in and use of (CAM) modalities has grown markedly over the last decade. Increased use of (CAM) has made it necessary that the topic be included in medical education from the preclinical years through residency and beyond. There has been progress in this direction in recent years, with a steady increase in the number of medical schools that include (CAM) therapies in their curricula. There, remains, however, a lack of clear goals and objective suggestions for implementing these changes. There is tremendous heterogeneity and diversity in content, format and requirements among courses in (CAM).Conclusion: An initiative with administrative and institutional support is necessary to incorporate (CAM) therapies as an integral part of the medical curriculum.
